Missouri Mavericks Name Official Eye Centers

The Mavericks, the new expansion team in the Central Hockey League, announced their recently selected Vision Center. Silverstein Eye Centers has been made Official Eye Centers of the Missouri Mavericks, The Mavericks will play at the new Independence Events Center in Independence, Missouri.
“It is both an honor and privilege to join such an energetic organization,” said Dr. Kevin Skelsey, board-certified ophthalmologist and partner of Silverstein Eye Centers.
“We are very excited about the opportunity.”
“When the Equipment Certification Council (HECC) introducing hockey facemask protectors, eye related injuries dramatically decreased,” Coach Scott Hillman says. “But accidents still happen, Bryan Berard had to take almost two full seasons off and undergo several surgeries to repair his vision or Anaheim Duck player, Petteri Nokelainen took a stick to his right eye earlier this year. Hillman stated since eye injuries are possible, they have enlisted the help of the doctors at Silverstein Eye Centers. With this medical addition to their group, they feel that if an unfortunate situation arises, their players will be receiving the best medical attention possible.
Professional athletes, including several golfers, baseball, soccer and football players alike, have turned to Silverstein Eye Centers to give them the competitive edge that comes with enhanced vision.
Each year there are more than 100,000 sports-related eye injuries that are reported to physicians. The most common kinds of eye injuries related to sports are detached retinas, lacerated corneas, contusions and corneal abrasions as well as cataracts, hemorrhages, and the loss of an eye. In the event of an on-the-ice emergency, it is critical that the Missouri Mavericks have the best care available in the area.
